Patricia Anne Meyer Luther was born March 2, 1948, in Boone. She was the daughter of June (Parks) and Russell Meyer.
When Pat was a young child, the family moved to Jefferson. Pat was always there for her family, helping to take care of her younger brothers following the early death of her father. This caring, nurturing nature continued throughout her life.
Pat graduated from Jefferson High School with the class of 1966. She was united in marriage to David Luther on Dec. 31, 1968. Both Pat and Dave attended Northwest Missouri State University. Pat graduated in 1971 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Upon their return to Jefferson, Pat became a third grade teacher at the north grade school in Jefferson, with Mr Magnus Nelson as elementary principal.
Pat and Dave became the parents of two boys. During those child-rearing years, Pat opened Country Lane Pre-School at her farm home east of Jefferson. For over 10 years, “Miss Pat” enjoyed teaching preschoolers.
In other rolls as an educator, Pat was employed for a short time by Job Serve for the state of Iowa. Eventually, she worked at the Area 12 Agency which became New Opportunities, where she provided counseling and educational programs in several counties.
Upon retirement, Pat made candles, raised dogs, and grew vegetables in her garden. Pat will lovingly be remembered as a strong, independent woman who was not afraid to speak her mind.
Pat Luther passed away March 20, 2024 at the age of 76 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Steve and Brian; and her son Ben.
Survivors include her husband Dave Luther of Jefferson; son Cale Luther of Georgia; grandchildren Noah (Morgan) Luther, Olivia (Wyatt) Luther, Jackson Luther and Aubree Luther; great-grandson Oliver Luther; sister Carol (Sam) Fengel of Scranton; brothers Mike (Joanne) Meyer of Fort Dodge and Bob (Mary) Meyer of Callender; other relatives; and many friends.
